On June 1, the Cal Poly Pomona architecture student team accepted the Honorable Mention Award at the 2018 Julius Shulman Emerging Talent Competition. The annual event is organized by the Los Angeles Business Council and held at Gensler's Los Angeles office. This year's team is comprised of 2018 B.Arch graduates Anya Budzinskaya, Socrates Medina and New Ngamnimitthum.
The competition pitted Los Angeles County's "five best architecture and design programs" -- Cal Poly Pomona, SCI-Arc, UCLA, USC and Woodbury Universit -- in an intense two-week challenge. This year, teams were asked to design a transit-oriented development along a future Gold Line extension station in La Verne, featuring each team’s choice of amenities.
