Semester Conversion

...and how to prepare for it

Semesters began in Fall 2018! Transitional students, those students who have attended CPP on quarters but will finish their degree on semesters, must make preparations now to stay on track. For students close to graduation (one year or less of courses taken on semesters) you will most likely follow the curriculum sheet you have and plug in equivalent semester courses to finish your degree. See the Semester Conversion Advising Guide in the sub-section below to understand the courses you will take on semesters.

The semester term will be 15 weeks plus final exams. This will be a big shift from what you are accustomed to as a student. You will have fewer registration periods for course scheduling, less final exam periods, and less actual courses needed to complete your degree. That being said, you will have fewer financial aid disbursements, so plan your budgets accordingly! Also, if you have never taken college courses on semesters, the longer term takes a little more stamina to push through to the end. But on the positive side, especially for the Art Department’s disciplines, this means more time to really get into your projects and to take on projects of a larger scope.
