Alyssa Lang
Alyssa Lang began her tenure as the Associate Dean of the College of Environmental Design in June 2018 as an interim appointment. She previously served as the Associate Chair at the Department of Art.
As a professional designer since 1994, Alyssa has worked in several professional environments, ranging from a small three-person advertising agency, to a large international consulting firm, culminating in the creation of her own design studio, Little Utopia Design. She has designed a range of printed marketing collateral, websites, logos, and books and book covers. Her design interests lie mostly in typography, poster, book, and logo design, commercial printing & production, letterpress printing, and social and environmental awareness.
After receiving a BFA in Studio Art, with a concentration in Graphic Design from West Chester University in Pennsylvania, she worked in the industry for six years. In 2000, she began working toward an MFA in Graphic and Interactive Design at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. Prior to Cal Poly Pomona she had taught at American University in Washington, D.C. and Arcadia University outside Philadelphia.
Her design work has appeared in publications such as PRINT Magazine's Regional Design Annual, Creative Quarterly, the China International Poster Biennial, The Creativity Awards, Create Magazine, HOW Magazine, as well several design books and compendiums. Alyssa has been a member of AIGA since 2001.
