Daigo Daikoku, art director and graphic design of his eponymous design institute, will give a lecture about his holistic approach to design. His lecture, sponsored by the Cal Poly Pomona chapter of AIGA, is scheduled 12 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Building 7 Atrium. The lecture is open to all design disciplines and the university community.
Daikoku's most prominent projects demonstrate the way his graphic design background has crossed into branding, visual identity, and packaging; editorial design, web and motion graphics; typography; product design and storefront design. He was the creative force behind TAKAO 599 MUSEUM, the "mountain and nature" museum for Takao Mountain, the most climbed peak in the world; the branding strategy for Japanese organic cotton company PRISTINE; and package design for Koshino Kanbai, one of Japan's most renowned premium sake brands.
His international honors include the D&AD Award, the Clio, One Show Design, and Japan's highest design recognition, the Tokyo ADC Hiromu Hara Award.
