General Education (GE) Courses at ENV

You've picked your major. What do general education classes have to do with it?

A lot more than what you think. General education (GE) courses are required for all majors to complete their degree program. Skills learned in GE classes have long-run benefits -- concepts from one class can be applied to another, and ultimately, in professional careers.

The General Education Program at Cal Poly Pomona provides essential skills and knowledge through a framework which enhances students’ understanding of basic disciplines and encourages an appreciation of the complexity of all knowledge. The program is designed to help students succeed in their chosen fields, adapt to a changing workplace, be engaged citizens in their communities, and become lifelong learners. Learn about the university's GE requirements here.

The College of Environmental Design offers GE courses throughout the academic year. Consider enriching your undergraduate experience with lessons in pre-Renaissance architecture history, the evolution of American cities, environmental design theory, global regenerative systems, social justice in planning, sustainable communities, and more.

See the sections below to view course offerings from the departments of architecture, art, landscape architecture, and urban and regional planning, as well as the Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies.
