The California State University is a leader in high-quality, accessible, student-focused higher education. With 23 campuses, almost 437,000 students, and 44,000 faculty and staff, we are the largest, the most diverse, and one of the most affordable university systems in the country.

The University maintains information about the estimated cost of your education, including estimates of tuition, fees, and living expenses. Please note addtional fees are charged for non-residents. Although it will vary depending on the student and their chosen focus, because fo the low unit requirement for the degree, MSRS students typically enroll full-time for only one academic year, and then part-time for a second-year while completing their thesis. This helps keep the cost competitive, even for non-residents.

The University's Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships is available to assist you with obtaining the finances you need to complete your degree. Their website provides you with the information necessary to navigate through the financial aid process. Applicants are encouraged to investigate all potential forms of aid for which they may be eligible.

Lyle Center Funding

The Lyle Center provides limited funding opportunities for MSRS students, in the form of scholarships, student staff employment, assistantships with the Sustainability Working Group, and other funded research and outreach projects in conjunction with faculty.

Scholarships

Thanks to generous donation by Cal Poly Pomona alumni and supporters over the years, the Center maintains an endowed scholarship fund which makes a limited number of awards available on an annual basis, to both incoming and current students. Awards are typically around $1,000 and are merit-based. Applicants are automatically considered for incoming awards as part of the application process. Current students are invited to apply for additional scholarships, typically in the spring of each year.

Student Staff Employment

The Center employs a number of students throughout the year, maintaining the landscape, supporting our education, research and outreach programs, and facilitating tours and demonstrations. Qualified MSRS students are given first priority consideration for hires in these positions, which also qualify for fulfilling hours toward the program's internship requirement. The number of positions available is dependent upon funding.

Funded Research & Outreach Projects

Faculty often have funded research and outreach projects which provide the opportunity for employment and internship hours for MSRS students. The availability of these opportunities will vary considerably, and such positions are competitive, often with students in other academic programs on campus. Applicants are encouraged to inquire about the availability of such opportunities to enhance their academic experience, as well as provide additional funding.
