The Lyle Center Sustainability Student Association (LCSSA) is Cal Poly Pomona's environmental justice network and a community of students with a vast array of interests and disciplines. The LCSSA welcomes everyone! Prior knowledge of social-ecological-technological issues and solutions are not necessary. We want to education, research, demonstrate, and outreach for a regenerative and sustainable university, Lyle Center, and Pomona for future generations.

The club is advised by faculty of the John T. Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies and operates with the Environmental Design Council (ENV Council). LCSSA’s focus is to build environmental awareness, encourage dialogue, and promote social justice through sustainable initiatives, events, and conferences. We act as agents of change by tabling around campus and at community events. We also want to bring film presentations, keynote speakers, hands-on wild food and polyculture workshops, community service work, and engaged dialogue about environmental and societal issues to the Lyle Center and the Cal Poly Pomona community.

Our method involves a collaboration with students, clubs, councils, staff, and faculty of multiple disciplines at Cal Poly Pomona, and other sustainability organizations that may or may not be associated with Cal Poly Pomona.  We will recruit students in the new Regenerative Studies Master's Program cohort to encourage the continuation of the club with students who have a focus in Regenerative Studies. In addition, we want to recruit students in Regenerative Studies minors courses to connect with students across disciplines who chose Regenerative Studies to complement their major.  Moreover, we want to encourage new students living in the Lyle Center dorms to join the club to be more engaged with regeneration in their housing.  Overall, the Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies’ 16-acres of living sustainability laboratory and its new club has many opportunities for students to connect with nature through stewardship and to encourage sustainable community building strategies.
